Dear Mr Shoumatoff,
I thought you might be interested to see an image of your ‘family’ hairstreak. It was taken on Sunday last at Bluefield’s in Western Jamaica and is the third I have seen in the area since March 2007. This is a new location for it. Most challenging to photograph to say the least – but definitely identifiable. Its tails were intact, but not readily observable in the attached image. It’s an amazingly tiny, beautiful and delicate insect. Sadly it does not open its wing when feeding. The image is x2 magnification roughly.
Best regards,
Vaughan Turland
