mornin musiclovers. I’ve decided to bale out of “Bernie Madoff made off with my money.” It’s too “arch,” as they say at the New Yorker. I had the same problem with a song on Guantanamo. Here’s an old-time gospel song, “How Much We Can Bear,” Reverend Gary Davis and his wife Annie used to sing in storefront Baptists churches in Harlem which I drove them on their Sunday round of a couple of times in the late sixties and early seventies. It’s a well-known song. You can hear Mahalia Jackson belting it out, and other perforances, on Youtube.
